FAMILY SERVICE’S BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM HAS LARGEST STUDENT ENROLLMENT EVER!
The Before and After School Program Enrolled over 1,480 Students
The Family Service Association of Lincoln’s Before and After School Program has the largest early childhood through middle school enrollment in the agency’s history. Well over 1,480 students attend the program located in 23 Lincoln Public Schools. The school sites are open from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. in the mornings and 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the evenings Monday through Friday. Children are engaged in activities that include homework help, reading and literacy activities, math and science, computer, health and nutrition.
“We're seeing a considerable increase in the number of families that rely on Family Service to provide a safe environment for children in our Before and After School program," said Program Coordinator Stephanie Ourada. "Much of the growth can be attributed to word of mouth about the quality of the program our staff delivers. Considerable energy and dedication goes into meeting this need every day in Lincoln."
A majority of parents pay the entire cost of Before and After School care. But a growing number of families on tight budgets rely on partial scholarships for care. Donations from local businesses and Lincoln residents help offset that expense.
Family Service Association of Lincoln is the oldest non-profit agency in Lancaster County, providing services to the children and families of Nebraska since 1891. The mission of Family Service is to provide programs and services, in collaboration with others, which effectively assist and strengthen all individuals and families in our community. Family Service Association, a 116-year-old Lincoln agency, is an invaluable community resource for families.
