Family Service of Lincoln seeing more Nebraska residents requesting help in opening home daycares because of recent job lossesLincoln, NE - March 24, 2009- Family Service of Lincoln’s Child Care Food Program (CCFP) has recently seen a large increase in requests from Nebraska residents for assistance in opening a home child daycare due to recent job losses. CCFP director Megan Evenson said, "The Family Service Child Care Food Program has seen an increase in calls from people who are interested in starting day care in their homes due to a loss of a job or jobs in their family. Many families are looking at options available for starting their own business. The Family Service Child Care Food Program offers cash reimbursement for a portion of provider's food cost to meals served to children in there care that meet the USDA meal pattern requirements." Family Service of Lincoln's Child Care Food Program is currently working on accomodating the new increase in reimbursement requests from many families looking to open a home child daycare in Nebraska. Family Service of Lincoln’s Child Care Food Program (CCFP), which is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), reimburses licensed or approved home child care providers for the partial cost of nutritious meals they feed children in their care through age 12. Currently around 200,000 home child care providers use this service in the United States (2008). Family Service is the oldest organization in Nebraska to sponsor this program.
